Kenyon has worked with BAA for over 30 years, initially providing basic maintenance services and, most recently, as a first tier supplier at Gatwick Airport with a contract worth £35 million.
The specialist services provided included commercial fit-out work, general refurbishment, and planned and reactive maintenance. Working in a busy airport environment put extra pressure on Kenyon’s management team to ensure that all activities were undertaken in such a way as to allow the airport to continue to function normally. Particular emphasis was always given to detailed planning and health and safety issues.
Kenyon’s permanent presence on the airport and the trusting, long term relationship with BAA that grew out of that contributed to the development of a shared strategic approach to service delivery. Kenyon was the driving force behind PPM programmes that identified repeat faults and eradicated them through the installation of robust products more fit for purpose, thus producing cost savings all round.
Other cost savings were achieved for the client by identifying stores and other facilities that could be used for commercial letting purposes. Kenyon’s report and proposals on the issue saved the client many hundreds of thousands of pounds. Kenyon also submitted proposals for rationalising second and third tier supply chain elements. The proposals were implemented, producing even further savings.
